The Birth of HealSelfie — Choose Yourself First

Five years ago, I found myself doing something so small… yet it changed my entire life.

I was scrolling through my camera roll, passing thousands of selfies I had taken over the years. At first, I saw a woman who looked happy — smiling, dressed nicely, keeping it all together. But the longer I looked, the more I started to see the truth in my own eyes.

Behind every smile, there was pain.
Behind every cute outfit, there was exhaustion.
Behind every “I’m fine,” there was a heart breaking quietly.

Suddenly I was flooded with memories — violence I had never spoken about, heartbreak I had ignored, and the weight of responsibilities I carried like it was normal. At that time, I had four children of my own, and I had taken in a friend’s three children because she couldn’t. I was working full-time in the military. I was overwhelmed, disconnected, and running on empty.

And somewhere between those photos, the tears came.
I didn’t even recognize the woman in the pictures anymore.
I felt sorry for her.
I knew she was close to breaking.

And then I heard it — a quiet, steady whisper from within:

“Heal Self… Heal Selfie.”

In that moment, I saw a vision — not of who I was, but of who I could become.
Stronger. Whole. Free. Connected. Alive.

That was the day the journey began.

I never intended for this to become a business. At first, it was just my personal transformation — a rebirth from the inside out. But as I grew through my healing, I noticed how many people around me were silently suffering while posting pictures that showed the exact opposite. I saw myself in them. I saw the lies we tell the world, the masks we wear, the pain we pretend isn’t there.

And I couldn’t ignore the call.

I wanted to create a space for liberation. A space where people could be real, be held, be supported, and be guided toward their true selves.

As I peeled back the layers of my trauma, I began smiling from a place of real power — not the kind that comes from looking good on the outside, but from loving who I was becoming on the inside. And I wanted to share that power with others.
